Business Strategy

Ran strategy sessions for McCune Foundation, over Zoom and in person at retreat in Albuquerque. Ran two-day offsite strategy sessions for New Mexico In-Depth nonprofit newsroom in Albuquerque. Ran two offsite strategy sessions for startup newsroom Boomtown Los Alamos. Ran a full-day strategy session for Wichita Journalism Collaborative and a half-day session for 505omatic. Worked with Dot Connector Studio on a digital transition strategy for Kiplinger Letter, including competitive analysis, design prototyping, delivering recommendations. Worked with Dot Connector Studio on evaluation of programs, including Tiny News Collective.


Events

MediaShift also produced a series of Collab/Space events, supporting news startups with brainstorming sessions and improv comedy, including an event in Chicago focused on VR. See all events here.

MediaShift events included a series of Journalism School Hackathons hosted at various journalism schools, including Women’s Hackathons like this one at USC Annenberg School.

Sales / Development


Helped expand grant funding for the Local News Fund, with new grants from Inasmuch Foundation, McCune Foundation, Scripps Howard Foundation, Con Alma Foundation and Solutions Journalism Network. Produced all aspects of LION Publishers Summit in 2019, including programming, sponsorship sales and launching a new awards show. Reprised role for sponsorship sales and nearly sold out the LION Local Journalism Awards in 2022. Sold sponsorships for INN Days at Home conference in 2020, selling first sponsorship to Microsoft, and multiple sponsored sessions.
